I use hypnosis alongside other talking therapy techniques such as NLP, CBP and Mindfulness. I find that my therapy is much more effective when I use the variety of techniques, best suited to my clients needs. Therapy is a personal journey and I am there with my clients every step of the way.
There are many misconceptions about hypnosis and hypnotherapy, here are some frequently asked questions which will hopefully give you some more information and answer any queries or concerns you may have. What are your qualifications?
I have studied hypnotherapy to a high standard earning my HPD (Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma) which is seen as the “gold standard” of hypnotherapy qualifications. Although still not used a lot in the NHS, it is this qualifcation that NHS doctors will look for. This qualification has allowed me to become a professional member of the NCH and CNHC. I also have diplomas in NLP, CBP, mindfulness, life coaching and am a qualified Beyond Quantum Healing practitioner.
How many sessions will I need?
This is a difficult question to answer as therapy is a unique journey. Everyone has different issues, responds to interventions differently and we never know what else may come up during therapy. I would say that 4-8 sessions are ideal to make some real good progress. The number of sessions required will be discussed during your initial consultation.
What is CBP?
Just like CBT, CBP (Cognitive Behavioural Psychology) is a talking therapy used to treat a wide variety of mental health problems and behavioural issues. It uses the theory that how we feel, how we think and how we behave all interact. By teaching the client coping skills, as well as recognising thought patterns and learning about their emotions, it will change how they behave in certain situations.
What is NLP?
NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming is also a very effective way of helping people overcome a number of different issues. NLP looks at your emotions and feeling, how you communicate with others and more importantly how you communicate with yourself, and how we interpret the world around us. Simliar to CBT, it looks at how our thoughts affect our behaviour
How is Hypnotherapy different from other talking therapies?
Other talking therapies encourage us to make changes to our thoughts and behaviours on a conscious level, hypnotherapy makes these changes on a subconscious level as well. As our subconscious is responsible for our habits, belief systems, imagination, phobias, etc so it is important and more effective that this part of the mind is involved in the therapy process.
Can you control my thoughts or behaviour while in a trance?
This is a definite no! Definitely not, they say, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. This means that you are in control the whole time and will only do things that are in line with your own values. Although you will be in a trance, you will not do anything you do not want to do. Being in a trance is just a natural relaxed state that quietens your conscious mind.
Can I get stuck in a trance?
Only a light trance is required for hypnotherapy to be effective. Trance is a natural state that we enter several times throughout the day, no one has ever got stuck in a trance. If a person was to be left hypnotised, they would simply fall asleep and wake up naturally when they are ready.

By using a variety of techniques from other talking therapies, I have found my sessions to be very effective. A lot of what we do is because of our subconscious mind, so it makes sense to do some work there as well.
Why is your therapy cheaper than others?
I am passionate about improving peoples mental, emotional and physical health. I want help to be made more accessible to those who need it most. Also, as I work from home, I do not have to pay rent for room hire and feel it is only fair my prices reflect this.
